Write positive and encouraging Valentine love notes for your children as an easy Valentine’s DIY. If your childhood, and even adulthood, was anything like mine, there were plenty of times to feel discouraged. From what I see around me, we all need to be reminded of the things we do well and that we are loved. I love to see those videos of parents having their child repeat back to them positive affirmations!
Similarly, this Valentine’s DIY is taking a single thought and putting it on a heart, then taping it to their door. Best of all, this does not require anything but paper, scissors and a writing utensil. Usually I get all fancy and cut out the hearts with my Cricut, but it is certainly not required. And I didn’t use mine in this case! I have done this for a few years and have a couple different versions, and my son couldn’t have cared less about the hearts or how fancy they were. He was just excited to read the messages. If you save things, you can even reuse some of the hearts the next year.
I first saw this as a picture a friend posted with a door plastered with paper hearts with messages. Can’t think of what to say? Below is a list of ideas to get you started. Here are some different options on how you can implement this idea:
- You can do it all through February
- stop on Valentine’s Day
- put them all up on Valentine’s Day
Not only does this encourage my son, but I love thinking of all the things that will make his face light up with joy!
